just made it

I just made this convertible dress. Originally it was for tolo but i couldn't finish it time. My face is still a little inflated as you can probably see, I just got my wisdom teeth out a few days ago. This is so much better actually, the first coupple days I looked like Augustus Gloop.

wow, country music never looked so appealing. this guy is BAWMB! I wasn't even thinking about seeing Country Strong, but now i might have to. I think its the guitar that gets me. This kind of reminds me of the notebook for some reason, I might have to go watch that now...

Taylor Momsen?

So this chick is cray cray, but not in the good way. I stumbled upon this video and thought it was pretty funny. She sounds kinda like Joan Jett, who i love. I have a really hard time believing that voice is coming out of her, but if that is her genuine voice, I am impressed. This video is hilarious because she is just crawling and falling all over that table, while her band mates (?) just kinda sit there, which gives me the impression that it is her band and they are just in it. the whole time she is rolling her racoon eyes and sicking her bony little tush in the air which is not her most flattering posture. And finally, I think that corset/bustier/teddy thing she is trying to put over as a dress is a grasping imitation of Cherie Currie from the runaways. Maybe she is just jealous she wasn't cast in the movie. Quite honestly, I really want to like Taylor Momsen, she is like the antithesis evil twin of T-Swift. She just tries too hard at being edgy and instead of coming off as some dark souled individual, she looks like she got eaten and spit out by Jenny Humphrey during her darker days.

The best tank dress ever

So i found this amazing tank dress at goodwill that is actually just an XXXXL tank top, and i wore it everyday to school for a week. I put the pictures up on LookBook, but i haven't gotten around to making one composite picture to put on here

Aaaahhhhh!!! It Finally happened!!!!!!!

so yeah, Michael Costello got bumped off, ITS ABOUT FREAKIN TIME! I mean I guess he seems like a nice guy and all, but looking at his final collection, its nothing I haven't seen before. he seems like a fantastic dress maker, and does "effortlessly chic" very well, but it wasn't exciting or new or innovative. I looked through pictures of the 10 piece collection, and i only liked 3 of the pieces he did enough to put them up here.

-Sarah Burton doing a fantastic job, though its hard to live up to McQeen.



Lanvin
-quite a few pieces bored me to bits, but there were some real minimalistic stunners thrown in there



Band of Outsiders
-Not always the most innovative or original, but they do a great interpretation of this sort of indie-preppy, forest dwelling hipster that I LOVE.



Wunderkid
-all the girls in this show looked like crazy colorful dolls. It would be so incredibly interesting if people went around dressed like this. I might have to find some floral tights now…



Proenza Schouler
-Decidedly more grown up, but there are still great touches of the playful/youthful vibe in there, a.k.a. acid dipped lace.



Louis Vuitton
-Well honestly this collection kinda made my eyes hurt because of all the stuff that was going on. Nice ry Marc Jacobs, but not quite. There was this combination of cliché Asian silhouettes and the 1920’s, and something else I don’t even know (shout out to costume girls! Chicago and the Monkey King combined in one collection!)



Rochas
-so combine the movie Ms. Pettigrew Lives For A Day, an old lady’s collection of vintage silk scarves, and some Swedish hipster, throw it on a bunch of skinny models and that’s it. I LOVE IT



Rodarte
-This one was very cool, understated, classy, and still a bit disheveled.



Ralph Lauren
-Both Moschino and Ralph Lauren did interpretations of a sort of western/cowgirl look. I couldn’t even look through the entire collection of Moschino. They went for a crazy (slightly comedic?) interpretation with big cowboy hats, exaggerated silhouettes, and various methods of incorporating aspects of the flag. It was gross to say the least; maybe I’m just not in the right mood, idk. On the other hand there were moments in the Ralph Lauren collection that made me want to run screaming into the other room because of the horrendous early 2000’s flashbacks. LUCKILY there were actually some stunners buried in there.

Sweater Love

I am going to carry my summer obsession of crochet into fall with SWEATERS!!!!! I have never really owned many in the past. I'm gonna be hittin up the vintage and thrift stores to find appropriately thick and large sweaters. Definitely posting ALL my back to school finds.

Aeon Flux

So i just stumbled Across this animated series, and have been hooked. Aeon Flux was on MTV several years back. It depicts a dystopian futuristic socitey, with questionable politicians and policy, "terrorists", espionage, and lots of really tight clothes. It's very dark and sort of avant-garde. They made a movie based on it in 2005 starring Charlize Theron. The movie looked REALLY cool, but it fell very short of my expectations.

Don't actually know exactly who Olivia Palermo is, I heard she is on The City, which I don't watch. Gorgeous photos though.

Eclipse

So the other day i finally caved and saw eclipse. I was a big fan of the first 2 books but the 3rd and 4th were just ridiculous. Being from Washington its kind of fun to see your state so stereotypically displayed, we don't actually drink Rainer Beer ALL the time. I actually liked the overall feel of the movie, it was very dark and sleek and cool. Acting/Plot wise though, it was very hard to take seriously. I was annoyed that they made Jessica Valedictorian just because Anna Kendrick was nominated for an Oscar. I will say that the fight scenes were really cool, but there should have been more.

And of course we have reached the eternally debatable question, Edward or Jacob. Personally I think that the way the movies are done just makes Bella look like this pathetic weak girl who has an unhealthy attachment to her boyfriend. It wasn't quite so apparent in the books but watching it on screen makes me uncomfortable. The movies also make Edward look like a secretive abstinence-pushing dickhead. so if you were to base it strictly off the movies I would be all for her switching to Jacob. I actually have a friend who asked if that happens in the next movie because it just seems like the next logical step in the plot after this one. But when you are reading the books Edward comes across as this chivalrous protective sweetheart who is a bit stuck in the past, but in no way does he seem pushy or overbearing. Jake looks a lot more immature and unstable. Based off of the books I would say that Bella and Edward are a perfect couple, provided that she makes some OTHER friends. that just leaves Jacob all free for me ;-) (yeah i know, until that weirdo demon baby comes along, sorry for spoilers)

Something else I noticed while watching the movie is that all the pale makeup and light blond hair looks super unnatural on Nikki Reed. she jst looks awkward. I think she is super gorgeous normally. (Maybe not the BEST picture examples, but I was short on time) What do you think? I might be wrong, Nikki or Rosalie?

Summer is finally upon us! The time has long since passed to break out the cut-offs, and get a little daring with that romper you have been wanting to wear, but haven't had the right weather for. Summer is the season of the music festival. Time to let loose and have fun with your style. Nothing should be too serious, take this time off from school and try something new. I absolutely love the Ruffled romper from B.P. (#14) since it comes in ostentatious orange, and a more subdued navy.

Beauty wise, it’s important to keep things light and casual during the summer months, you don’t want to have to worry about messing up your eye makeup when you jump in the pool. I like to keep things simple with lip balm and mascara. Its important to keep those smackers moisturized and well protected from the sun, so I recommend Bobbi Brown’s lip balm with SPF 15 (#4).

So grab a cute pair of shades and your favorite sandals and enjoy the lovely weather, I know that’s what I’ll be doing!
